Cardiac Care Profile

Based on the severity of risk towards Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) the profiles have been classified as Cardio Screen -10 and Cardio Risk -16

Cardio Screen - 10

Recommended in Persons Who

Have a family history of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD)

      Have Hypertension

Have Low HDL Cholesterol (Below 35 mg/dl)

Lead a stressful and sedentary lifestyle

      Smoke cigarettes

      Do not eat health foods.

Are males above 35 years of age

      Have Definite prior Myocardial ischemia

      Have Diabetes Mellitus

Are severely obese (> 30% overweight)

Are above 50 years of age

Lead a stressful and sedentary lifestyle

Notes

      1) Hyper homocystienemia is an independent risk factor for CHD.

      2) Elevated levels of D- Dimer indicative of continuous fibrinolytic process in the arteries.

      3) Apolipprotein A1 is a major protein constituent of HDL - better indicator in risk of CHD.

      4) Apolipprotein B is a major protein constituent of LDH - better indication in risk of CHD.

“ A healthy heart is vital for living life to the full regardless of age or gender.  To maintain a young heart for life we should adapt  a healthy lifestyle by being physically active.  Not smoking and choosing a healthy diet.”

Diabetic Care Profile

Introduction

Diabetes Mellitus is a leading cause of kidney failure, amputation and blindness
in adults and is a major risk factor for heart diseases, stroke and birth defects and can
shorten the life expectancy by up to 15 years.  It has been well established that in patients
with diabetes there is a direct relationship between blood glucose levels and complications associated with the disease.

In a number of studies such as the Diabetes Control & Complication Trials (DCCT) as well as the United kingdom Prospective Diabetic Study it was conclusively established that a reduction in blood glucose levels significantly delayed the onset and slowed the progression of mast of the serious complications of diabetes.

“Based on the extent of risk towards Diabetics and severity towards its
complications, Dianova Laboratories have classified the profiles as Diabetic Screen
(DIA-10) and Diabetic Detail (DIA -18)”.

Arthritis profile

Introduction:-

Most people 50 years old and over experience at least some symptoms of arthritis, and typically the symptoms become worse as time goes by.  If you are experiencing joint pain, see your doctor.  He or she will be able to determine if you have arthritis by conducting blood tests and taking x-rays of the afflicted areas, and then assist you in planning an appropriate treatment program.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is one of the most common auto immune disorders affecting approximately 1 % of the population world wide.  As the etiology is still not known several facts have been associated with the disease.  Like most auto immune conditions Rheumatoid Arthritis occurs more frequently in woman than men (3: 1 ratio)

Immunopathology:-

A typical feature of the disease is a chronic inflammation of the joints leading to progressive joint destruction.  With more sophisticated types of therapy now available it is becoming more important to diagnose RA at an early stage for effective treatment to prevent major damage to joint tissues.

Common symptoms include.

      a) Aches & pains in joints, muscles and tendons

      b) Swelling and stiffness in joints

      c) General fatigue

The Profile

Although the Rheumatoid Factor (RF) antibody is present in about 75% of RA patients its specificity is limited as RF is also found in patients with other autoimmune disease, infectious diseases and few healthy elderly individuals (10 -30%).

“Then Arthritis profile from Dianova Laboratories aims to arrive at the root cause of the symptoms through specific tests and differential diagnosis.”
